I met Sean Rosenzweig when he listed the multi-family property next to mine on Selby Avenue. Despite the fact that we submitted the highest all-cash offer, our offer was rejected. Instead, Sean sold the property to another buyer whom he personally represented—allowing him to collect both sides of the commission. What makes this worse is that the seller ended up receiving $100,000 less than what we had offered and had to carry a note to close the deal. That decision hurt not just us, but the seller as well. To add insult to injury, my agent—an experienced and highly capable Black woman—was treated dismissively throughout the negotiation. In my view, both Sean and Marcus & Millichap demonstrated clear bias against her, which was unprofessional and unacceptable. As someone who makes it a point to hire and support African American professionals—particularly women—I found this experience deeply disheartening. Marcus & Millichap may be one of the fastest-growing real estate firms in Los Angeles, but this kind of behavior reflects poorly on their integrity and values. I hope others approach with caution.
