We cannot share enough good things about Shelley James of RE/MAX who represented us as we sold our Geneva home in the Bellingham area. Shelley goes above and beyond for her clients. She was my listing agent on a sale that had a lot of "issues". I was an out-of-town seller and Shelley did a bunch of extra things to help ensure a smooth sale that many agents would not have. Let's just say that she knows the market, does her research and gets ahead of issues before they become problems. Her communication skills are great, and her customer service is unparalleled. I also sent my Son to her to buy his first home. She guided him through the process and he also had a great experience. Even though he is young and inexperienced with Real Estate I knew that Shelley would be ethical, honest and professional and she was.

I grew up in Bellingham but have lived and worked in the legal field in Seattle for many years. Shelley James is my favorite (and only) sister. Shelley was our agent when we sold our house in Shoreline, which was an amazing experience. She managed multiple offers and it sold over asking. There were elements of the sale that were stressful, especially the inspection responses from potential buyers. Shelley is empathetic but clearly understands the seller’s and buyer’s perspective—she can negotiate very effectively because of the scope of her real estate knowledge. She is a relentless advocate for her clients, something that I admire in others, but she also knows when to adjust and pivot. She is completely focused on what her clients want and assists them in making well-reasoned choices. This is invaluable when you are buying and selling property for yourself, but particularly when you are doing so on behalf of an estate or a principal. Shelley has worked with other attorneys and personal representatives in the sale of estate property. She assisted me (in my capacity as an agent under a power of attorney) in selling a distressed property. She made very astute suggestions for low-cost improvements that had a positive impact on the sale. She will also suggest projects that can substantially increase the value of a property and discuss the pros and cons. Shelley is an expert at maximizing profit for her sellers even when they are operating under a budget restraint. She has worked with people who are facing difficult choices—due to illness or the death of a loved one. She knows that people need additional support during a stressful time and helps them in the transition. Shelley is an amazing realtor—highly intelligent, knowledgeable, meticulous, ethical, and tenaciously loyal. As a sister, she is all of those things. And patient. And empathetic. And wickedly funny.
